ETF Market Cap Surpasses 400 Trillion Won, KOSPI Recovers 6,000 Level

The market size of domestic listed Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) has surpassed 400 trillion won for the first time, indicating the growing popularity of investing in funds that track stock market indices. According to the Korea Exchange and other sources on the 15th, the market capitalization of approximately 1,000 domestic ETFs reached 404.2229 trillion won as of the closing price that day.

This achievement comes 24 years after ETFs were first listed on the Korean stock market in October 2002. The ETF market capitalization surpassed the 300 trillion won mark on January 5th and reached 400 trillion won in approximately 100 days. The total net assets of ETFs stand at 398.1367 trillion won.

On the 15th, the KOSPI closed at 6091.39, up 123.64 points (2.07%) from the previous trading day. Investors focused on U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks regarding the possibility of resuming talks with Iran.
