Won/Dollar exchange rate edges up in the 1470s on the 16th
On the 16th, the won's value declined against the dollar in the Seoul foreign exchange market, leading to a slight rise in the won/dollar exchange rate to the mid-1470s. This could potentially lead to increased import prices. As of 9:45 AM today, the dollar-won rate stood at 1474.15 won, having opened at 1473.6 won, down 0.6 won from the previous day.
The dollar index recorded 98.009, down 0.13% from the previous trading day. Foreign investors were net sellers of approximately 170 billion won worth of stocks on the KOSPI market.
Market participants are closely watching for further developments in the second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran. U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that the war with Iran "will be over soon."
The yen-dollar exchange rate was recorded at 158.76 yen. The won-yen cross-rate was 928.76 won per 100 yen.
