Park Hyeong-jun Pursues Unification in Busan's Buk-gu Gap for Conservative Revival

With the de facto confirmation of former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon's candidacy in the Busan Buk-gu Gap by-election, attention is turning to whether Busan Mayor Park Hyeong-jun will initiate moves toward unification for conservative revival. Mayor Park, while distancing himself from the party's 'no nomination for Buk-gu Gap' stance, is emphasizing the need for broad conservative consolidation. Former leader Han concretized his intention to run by registering his address at the Mandeok 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Busan's Buk-gu on the 14th.

Han and Mayor Park share the goal of rebuilding the party using victory in Busan as a bridgehead. Former leader Han has stated his electoral goal as 'conservative revival,' while Mayor Park cites 'securing the district' and 'defending the Nakdong River front' as his objectives.

The two have designated Democratic Party lawmaker Jeon Jae-soo as an 'unqualified candidate,' making 'anti-Jeon Jae-soo' their common enemy. This also serves as a common denominator for Mayor Park, for whom the electoral conditions are not easy to overcome independently.
