President Lee Jae-myung's Approval Rating Falls to 66% After Three Weeks

A public opinion poll has announced that President Lee Jae-myung's approval rating, reflecting public evaluation, has been tallied at 66% after three weeks. This is a key indicator gauging public perception of the president's policy direction, with positive evaluations of his job performance standing at 66% and negative evaluations at 26%. 8% withheld their opinion.

Supporters most frequently cited 'economy/people's livelihoods' (17%) as the reason for their positive evaluation, while detractors pointed to 'economy/people's livelihoods/high exchange rates' (17%) as the main cause for their negative assessment.

In a party support poll released on the same day, the Democratic Party of Korea recorded 48%, and the People Power Party recorded 19%. The Forum for Justice, the Progressive Party, and the Reform Party each garnered 2%, while 26% were undecided or supported no specific party.

Korea Gallup noted that the Democratic Party's 48% support rating marks its highest point since the current administration took office. The People Power Party's support has fallen from 25% in early February to 18% in early April, reaching its lowest level since the administration's launch. From mid-August last year to January this year, the Democratic Party's support hovered around 40%, with the People Power Party consistently in the low 20% range.

By political inclination, 79% of liberal voters supported the Democratic Party, while 51% of conservative voters backed the People Power Party. Among moderate voters, 48% supported the Democratic Party and 12% supported the People Power Party. The proportion of voters who did not support any specific party was 34%.

The survey was conducted by Korea Gallup from April 14th to 16th, interviewing 1,000 voters nationwide aged 18 and over. The methodology involved randomly selecting mobile phone virtual numbers provided by the three major telecommunications companies and conducting interviews via phone operators. The survey has a 95% confidence level with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points and a response rate of 13.8%.
