Jeju Special Province and International Free City Act Amendment Passes

On the 18th, the amendment bill to the Special Act for the Establishment of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Creation of an International Free City passed the plenary session of the National Assembly held at the Yeouido National Assembly in Seoul. The plenary session that day was convened as the 6th session of the 434th National Assembly (extraordinary session).

This amended bill revises parts of the existing special act, which lays down the basis for establishing Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the institutional foundation for creating an international free city.

The Jeju International Free City concept aims to develop Jeju Island into an international hub where people, goods, and capital can move freely.
