Cheongju City to Add 8 Public Childcare Centers
Cheongju City is pushing forward with an expansion project to open eight new public childcare centers, aiming to enhance the public nature of early childhood education and reduce the childcare burden on parents.
As of April, the city is operating a total of 78 public childcare centers, and this project aims to establish balanced childcare infrastructure by reflecting regional demand. The new public childcare centers are scheduled to open sequentially from July to December, with each facility expected to accommodate 50 to 80 children.
The target areas for the new expansion include eight apartment complexes, including Hanwha Forena Cheongju Maebong, and regions with high childcare demand. Hanwha Forena Cheongju Maebong opened in March, and two other locations, including Cheongju The Sharp Greenity, are undergoing remodeling. Two more, such as Wolmyeong Park Epitome The Park, have begun the design phase, while the remaining three are proceeding with administrative procedures, including recruiting operators.
