Campus DEI Policies Criticized for 'Lack of Solutions,' Trump Urged to Act
Criticism is growing over Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies spreading across American universities, with increasing calls for their improvement. Legal experts have urged former President Donald Trump to actively counter specific ideologies.
They point out that current DEI policies are rooted in a deeper ideology called 'intersectionality,' making it difficult to achieve fundamental solutions with the previous administration's policy repeal efforts alone, and are thus demanding a more proactive role from former President Trump.
The Legal Insurrection Foundation and the Defense of Freedom Institute for Policy Studies have jointly released a report. The report urges President Donald Trump to take action against certain ideologies, asserting that DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) practices continue on American university campuses through the ideology of 'intersectionality.'
The report stated, “The toxic influence of intersectionality must be confronted head-on,” adding, “the future of our education system and the safety of our nation depend upon it.” Despite former President Trump's executive order banning DEI, the report noted that progressive school administrators are categorizing students by group identity and teaching the U.S. and Western society as oppressive entities. It was analyzed that such education spreads social discord and violence.
The report proposes that the Trump administration take administrative action by explicitly targeting 'intersectionality.' This is intended to close loopholes that allow DEI practices to persist under the guise of intersectionality. Furthermore, it suggests exploring ways to promote traditional American values as educational programs to replace these ideologies.
The report criticizes intersectionality as an inherently socialist and collectivist ideology that judges individuals based on group identity. It explains that by emphasizing the 'intersection' of victim groups, it creates a perception that certain groups are favored over others.
According to the report, while the Trump administration's efforts to address DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) issues were commendable, these measures are still being ignored, and the American education system is functioning as a mechanism for embedding intersectionality into its culture. The Legal Insurrection Foundation and the Defense of Freedom Institute stated they have documented the spread of intersectionality across more than 700 educational institutions, primarily on college campuses and in K-12 schools.
