Minjoo Party's Kang Jung-hee Reflects on Political Debut

In an interview on the 21st, Kang Jung-hee, a proportional representative candidate for the Minjoo Party in Jeju, revealed her reasons for entering politics and her aspirations. Kang defined herself as "someone who has fulfilled her responsibilities in life rather than pursuing grand goals." Her experience working in a restaurant after moving to Jeju and witnessing the realities faced by small business owners became a turning point in reconsidering her political path. She emphasized the weight of responsibility and the time she has lived, rather than a flashy resume, summarizing this sentiment with her words: "It's not a late choice, but a decision made after living a full life."

She chose to run as a proportional representative because it offered the opportunity to change Jeju's overall structure with a broader perspective. In education, Kang proposes a goal of "talent-centered growth rather than performance-centered." Her key pledges include returning development profits to residents, implementing "one person, one foreign language" education, and introducing a "natural pension."

Kang has participated in activities such as serving as a delegate for Jeju City A, chairing the Yeon-dong A party chapter, and engaging with the women's committee. In 2025, she received a Level 1 award from party leader Lee Jae-myung.
