Samsung Asset Management ETF Surpasses 500 Billion Won in Net Assets Within Two Weeks of Listing
Samsung Asset Management's 'KODEX Samsung Electronics SK Hynix Bond Blend 50' ETF has rapidly grown, surpassing 500 billion won in net assets just two weeks after its listing. This product stands out by investing in leading domestic semiconductor companies Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, while also ensuring stability through high-quality bonds. Since its launch, individual investors have shown significant interest, with net purchases totaling approximately 37.9 billion won.
The ETF's appeal to individual investors is attributed to its strategy of investing heavily in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which are currently recording record profits due to the rise in memory semiconductor prices, while mitigating volatility through bonds. Over the two weeks since its listing, the ETF achieved a return of 10.8%, which is considered high for a bond-mixed product.
The KODEX Samsung Electronics SK Hynix Bond Blend 50 ETF invests half of its assets in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, with each holding a maximum weighting of 25%. The remaining 50% is composed of high-quality domestic bonds, such as government bonds, to maximize asset allocation effects. This structure aims to capture capital gains from the rebound in the semiconductor industry while providing a stable investment by using the 50% bond allocation as a buffer during market downturns.
With over 50% of its assets in safe-haven instruments, this ETF can be invested up to 100% in personal pension and retirement pension accounts. It is suitable for pension investors looking to meet their accounts' safe asset ratio requirements while simultaneously investing in the potential stock price appreciation of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The ETF has set the 15th of each month as the distribution reference date, offering monthly dividend payments.
Im Tae-hyuk, Head of ETF Operations at Samsung Asset Management, explained that the KODEX Samsung Electronics SK Hynix Bond Blend 50 ETF is an ideal product for long-term investment by pension investors, offering exposure to semiconductor growth with a portfolio designed to lower volatility. He added that Samsung Asset Management plans to continuously introduce diverse asset allocation ETFs with various structures to help investors manage their assets stably and design their cash flow through monthly distributions.
