President Lee Jae-myung claimed that reporting on the Daejangdong development project corruption allegations three years ago was a 'massive fabrication,' and demanded the cancellation and return of the Korean Newspaper Award, asserting its bestowal at the time was unjust.

In a social media post on the 24th, the President referenced the Korean Newspaper Association's 2023 award to the reporting, citing the reason as 'unearthing continuously impactful facts,' and stated his claim.

He argued that the reporting created a figure referred to as 'that person,' who was not present in any transcripts, and that this influenced the outcome of the last presidential election, leading to the defeat of the Democratic Party candidate.
