Wi Sung-rak: 'Coupang Issue Affecting ROK-US Security Talks is True'
Wi Sung-rak, Secretary of the National Security Office, acknowledged that the Coupang-related issue is affecting ROK-US security consultations. Wi made this statement on the 24th (local time) in response to related questions during a briefing in Washington.
Furthermore, regarding concerns about delays in the early transfer of wartime operational control (OPCON) to South Korean forces, Wi stated that efforts would continue to meet the necessary conditions.
He implied that the OPCON transfer is a matter of political decision, going beyond technical and military requirements.
