Dongmyung University Selected for Ministry of Education's AI Curriculum Development Support Project

Dongmyung University announced on April 24 that it has been finally selected for the Ministry of Education's University Artificial Intelligence (AI) Basic Curriculum Development Support Project. Among the 80 universities that applied nationwide, Dongmyung University will receive a total of 600 million KRW in project funding from April to February 2028 to develop and operate an AI curriculum.

This project aims to promote the dissemination of AI basic education within universities and establish an integrated educational system linked to various majors. Dongmyung University will build an interdisciplinary AI education model involving diverse departments, including the School of General Education, the Department of Nursing, the Department of Early Childhood Education, the Department of Entertainment and Arts, and the Department of Global Business (BIC). This initiative aims to lay the foundation for all students, regardless of their major, to understand and utilize AI, thereby accelerating the training of practical AI talent required by the industry.

Through this project, the Ministry of Education seeks to spread AI-based innovation across the entire university education system. Lee Sang-cheon, President of Dongmyung University, evaluated the selection as recognition of the university's AI education capabilities and readiness. He stated that the university will strive to foster interdisciplinary talent capable of leading the future society through AI-based educational innovation.

The project will commence in April and run for approximately two years until February 2028. Key components include the development of basic liberal arts courses covering AI ethics and critical thinking, operation of mini-majors for non-engineering students focusing on AI application, and enhancement of faculty AI capabilities and dissemination of educational outcomes.
