Oh Se-hoon Bets on 'Policy Completion' Amid Low Approval Ratings
Seoul mayoral candidate Oh Se-hoon expressed his determination on the 24th, during an interview with JTBC Newsroom, to shift the election dynamics to focus on the candidate himself, through policy completion and personal competitiveness, despite low party approval ratings. Candidate Oh explained the rationale behind his slogan, "Overwhelmingly Completing Changes That Have Begun," stating that "there are many things that were started but not finished."
He mentioned 'Companion for the Vulnerable' and 'Seoul Learn' as core policies, noting that 'Companion for the Vulnerable' is still in its early stages and requires more time to establish its impact. Regarding major projects like the Nodeul Island development, he indicated that administrative procedures are lengthy, making short-term completion difficult, and thus, more time is needed for policy finalization.
Oh assessed the current party approval rating as "the lowest since the party's founding," describing the 10-percentage-point gap as "fortunate" and urging the leadership for self-reflection and decisive action. He predicted that as the election progresses, the party leader's visibility will gradually fade, and the candidate's personal competitiveness will become more prominent, believing voters will judge based on achievements, vision, continuity, and execution capabilities.
