₩930 Million Investment to Build AI-Integrated Safety Network in Jeonnam, Gwangju

A project to build an artificial intelligence (AI)-based integrated safety network in the Jeonnam and Gwangju regions has been selected as an R&D project by the National Police Agency, with an investment of 933 million won. This project combines 'On-Device AI' technology, which runs AI directly on devices, with 'heterogeneous linkage technology' that connects equipment from different manufacturers. This will create a system that quickly identifies and responds to risks in the field. It aims to improve the slow response speed of regional public safety infrastructure and enable faster action in case of incidents or accidents.

Key components include maintaining and integrating the existing public safety infrastructure in Jeonnam and Gwangju, enabling simultaneous automatic reporting and location transmission for 112 (emergency police) and 119 (emergency services), integrating village and disaster broadcasts, and implementing a field-focused real-time response system.

The Jeonnam Autonomous Policing Committee plans to pilot the system in areas highly vulnerable to population decline and develop a standardized model that can be expanded nationwide, promoting phased implementation.
