Seoul Mayoral Candidates Engage in Weekend Policy Showdown
Democratic Party candidate for Seoul mayor Jung Won-oh and People Power Party candidate Oh Se-hoon clashed in downtown Seoul over the weekend ahead of the mayoral election. Jung visited Namdaemun Market to gauge public sentiment among merchants, while Oh attended the Yi Sun-sin Festival in Jung-gu.
Oh pressed Jung again on his stance regarding the abolition of special tax deductions for long-term property ownership. Jung responded, stating, "The rights of single-home owners should be protected unless the purpose is speculation."
Jung dismissed Oh's comment that he was likely to become "President Lee Jae-myung's yes-man," saying, "Let's compete with policies for the citizens."
