Ministry of Employment and Labor Launches Special Inspection at Workplace Where Foreign Worker Was Assaulted

Following an incident where a foreign worker was assaulted at a manufacturing company in Incheon, the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) has immediately initiated a special labor inspection.

This investigation is designed to thoroughly examine labor laws, including not only potential assault and workplace bullying experienced by foreign workers but also whether the workplace has adhered to safety standards.

If violations are confirmed, legal penalties may be imposed, and foreign worker employment permits could be revoked or restricted. Support will also be provided for victim protection measures and procedures for changing workplaces.

Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Young-hoon has described the assault as an act of violence that transcends labor rights violations, constituting a human rights infringement and a criminal act.
