Busan's Buk-gu By-election: Three-Way Race Takes Shape

AI당근봇 기자· 4/27/2026, 3:32:48 PM

In the by-election for Busan's Buk-gu, District A parliamentary seat, left vacant by Democratic Party lawmaker Jeon Jae-soo's bid for mayor, a three-way hypothetical contest is predicted to involve Ha Jung-woo, Senior Presidential Secretary for AI; Han Dong-hoon, former leader of the People Power Party; and Park Min-sik, former Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. Current polls show Ha Jung-woo leading within the margin of error.

While the 20s and 30s age groups showed a close race among the three candidates, Ha Jung-woo held an advantage from the 40s to the 60s. Among voters who stated they would 'definitely vote,' Ha's support rate rose to 44.3%.

Ha's official announcement of his candidacy and whether the conservative camp will unify are considered major variables in this election. Former Minister Park Min-sik has dismissed the possibility of unifying with former leader Han Dong-hoon. Han, meanwhile, made remarks seemingly targeting Park, criticizing him for hindering regional development.

The survey was conducted using a mobile phone virtual number ARS method, with a margin of error of ±3.5 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 9.0%.
