Choi Tae-won: 'Investment is the bottleneck for AI development… Data center construction must be expedited'
Choi Tae-won, chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and SK Group, emphasized that the core problem hindering the development of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) era is 'investment,' particularly urging the urgent need to build large-scale data center infrastructure.
Chairman Choi explained that building 1GW of AI data centers requires $50 billion (737 trillion won), pointing out that South Korea's current infrastructure level is significantly insufficient compared to global construction trends.
Choi identified 'speed, scale, and security' as key elements for securing AI competitiveness, while exploring ways for South Korea's AI industry to grow.
