Vernect Secures 7.1 Billion Won Government Project to Develop 'Five-Sense AI' Technology

Vernect, an artificial intelligence (AI) platform company, has won two integrated government-funded projects from the Ministry of Science and ICT, worth a total of 7.1 billion won, for the 'Development of Multimodal Sensory Sharing Technology Between Heterogeneous XR Devices'. The company will embark on developing 'five-sense-based AI technology' that encompasses tactile, motion, and environmental information, going beyond sight and sound. This technology utilizes AI to compensate for users' sensory deficits, convert screen information into sound or touch, and provide personalized sensory experiences. It is expected to be widely applied in various fields such as XR content, industrial simulation, education, and enhancing accessibility for people with disabilities. The government plans to secure domestic leadership in sensory information technology and standards by 2030, based on the 'Virtual Convergence Industry Promotion Act' and its standardization roadmap. This project is part of a strategy to strengthen competitiveness in the global XR market.

The application areas for this technology will extend to manufacturing, education, and content. In industrial settings, it will enhance maintenance and collaboration efficiency by remotely sharing workers' sensory information. In education and training, it will enable practical learning environments that include touch and motion. The sensory conversion technology will contribute to improving digital accessibility for people with disabilities. The government aims to secure domestic leadership in sensory information technology and standards by 2030, following the 'Virtual Convergence Industry Promotion Act' and its standardization roadmap. This project is part of the government's strategy to reduce reliance on foreign engines in the global XR market and strengthen competitiveness in AI-based sensory technology. Through this government-funded project, Vernect will fully launch the implementation of 'human-centric Physical AI,' which combines human judgment, AI sensory compensation, and device execution.
