Donald Trump, the former US President, has nominated Dr. Nicole Saphier as a nominee for the Department of Health and Human Services, a move that follows the withdrawal of the nomination for Dr. Casey Means. Trump announced Saphier's nomination on Thursday (local time) via his social media platform, Truth Social. He described Saphier as a "star doctor" and introduced her as someone who has worked to assist women undergoing breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, and to promote early cancer screening and prevention. He also praised her dedication in all areas of cancer diagnosis and treatment, calling her an "amazing communicator" who helps the public easily understand complex health issues. Trump stated that Dr. Saphier contributes to "making America healthy."

Saphier's nomination came shortly after Trump criticized Senator Bill Cassidy (Republican, Louisiana). Trump accused Cassidy of being "very disloyal," citing the senator's past efforts to impeach him. He claimed Cassidy had obstructed Dr. Casey Means' nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services for months.

Furthermore, Trump added that despite Cassidy's "stubbornness and political games," Dr. Means would continue to fight for the nation's critical health issues, including research into the root causes of child illness outbreaks, rising autism rates, malnutrition, overtreatment, and infertility. In a separate post, Trump urged Louisiana residents to vote Cassidy out in the Republican primary. He emphasized that Cassidy should step down in the next election in Louisiana, a state Trump said he has won three times, suggesting Cassidy's passive stance influenced the change in nominees.
