AI Chip Exports Surge 48%, Surpassing Market Expectations
Demand for semiconductors used in high-performance computers (servers) for artificial intelligence (AI) has increased, leading to a 48% year-on-year rise in South Korea's related exports last month. This outcome surpassed the figures anticipated by economic experts.
Total exports in April were recorded at $85.89 billion, an amount higher than the average forecast of $85.692 billion from seven financial institutions. Imports in April stood at $62.11 billion, a 16.7% increase from the same month last year. The trade balance recorded a surplus of $23.77 billion, exceeding market expectations.
