Man in 50s Arrested, Charged for Dousing Nephew with Flammable Substance

A man in his 50s has been sent to trial for allegedly attempting to murder his nephew by dousing him with a flammable substance and setting him on fire during a dispute. It is understood that suspect A committed the crime while having a severe argument with his nephew over property issues.

The Incheon District Prosecutors' Office's Bucheon Branch has arrested and indicted A on charges including attempted murder. A is accused of attempting to kill his nephew, B, by spraying flammable material on his body and setting it on fire on the morning of December 14 last year.

Immediately after the crime, A also set his own residence on fire. The prosecution, deeming there to be procedural irregularities, such as the police providing the suspect with a list of confiscated items without a warrant during the case transfer process, secured additional evidence through supplementary investigation.
