South Korea's exports exceeded $80 billion again in April, reaching $85.89 billion, marking the second consecutive month to surpass this threshold. April's total exports surged 48.0% year-on-year, continuing the strong export momentum seen in March.

The biohealth sector achieved its highest-ever April performance, exporting $1.61 billion, an 18.6% increase from the previous year. This has raised expectations for second-quarter exports, driven by robust global CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organization) orders and expanded market share for key products in major countries.

An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy cited strong global CDMO orders and increased market share for key products in major economies as the primary contributing factors.
