Democratic Party Recruits AI Expert Lim Mun-yeong, Park Ji-won

The Democratic Party has recruited Lim Mun-yeong, Vice Chairman of the Presidential Committee on National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, and Supreme Council Member Park Ji-won as new talents ahead of the upcoming June 3 local elections and parliamentary by-elections.

At a welcome ceremony held at the National Assembly, Democratic Party leader Jung Cheong-rae introduced Vice Chairman Lim as a 'top AI expert' and stated he would contribute to AI policy development within the party and the legislature. Vice Chairman Lim is expected to run as a Democratic Party candidate in the Gwangju Gwangsan constituency, while Supreme Council Member Park is slated to compete in Jeonbuk's Gunsan, Gimje, and Buan districts. Jung Cheong-rae praised Supreme Council Member Park as a 'model of internal talent the party confidently puts forward,' highlighting his achievement as the first-ever Supreme Council Member elected from the ranks of ordinary party members, overcoming a 115-to-1 competition and proving the value of party member sovereignty. Supreme Council Member Park stated he would serve as a 'solid link' connecting the experiences of central and regional politics and older generations with the future of the next generation.

The Democratic Party is scheduled to announce candidates for four to five other by-election areas where nominations have not yet been finalized later this afternoon.
