AI Firm Anthropic Signs Major Computing Deal with SpaceX

AI firm Anthropic has entered into a large-scale computing resources agreement with Elon Musk's SpaceX, signaling its full commitment to the next generation of AI development competition.

To alleviate capacity constraints exacerbated by growing demand for products like its AI coding tools and to expand its computing power for future AI system development, Anthropic has agreed to utilize over 300 megawatts (MW) of computing capacity from SpaceX's data centers located in Memphis, Tennessee. The two companies are also exploring the potential for developing orbital AI computing capacity on the scale of several gigawatts (GW).

Through this agreement, SpaceX will strengthen its position as an AI infrastructure provider and gain an opportunity to generate new revenue ahead of its planned initial public offering (IPO).
