Man in 20s Attends Hearing Over Gwangju High School Student Murder Charges
A 24-year-old man, identified as Mr. Jang, accused of fatally stabbing a 17-year-old high school student and seriously injuring another male student in Gwangju on the 5th, appeared in court on the 7th for a pre-arrest judicial review. Jang, whose face was covered by a hat and mask, told reporters, "I am truly sorry for the unforgivable crime I have committed."
During police questioning, Jang claimed the crime was impulsive, stating, "Life was not enjoyable, so I felt the urge to commit the crime." However, police are investigating the possibility of premeditation, noting circumstances such as Jang washing blood-stained clothes after the incident, indicating potential evidence tampering.
The police are reviewing whether to disclose the suspect's identity, considering the severity of the crime. The Gwangju District Court issued an arrest warrant for Jang on the 7th.
