Rep. Yoon Sang-hyun Accused of Ordering Destruction of Evidence in Probe

Allegations have surfaced through a Newstapa report that People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun, while under investigation for alleged violations of the Political Funds Act, instigated the destruction of evidence and manipulation of testimony. This raises suspicions that Yoon attempted to derail the investigation by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) by offering legal representation and attempting to coordinate testimony with the CEO of a public relations firm, identified as B.

A lawyer, identified as Park, was appointed as B's legal counsel and attended B's CIO investigation on November 13th of last year, reportedly rehearsing anticipated questions and answers with B. In a phone call with Newstapa, Lawyer Park denied knowing Yoon Sang-hyun and stated that Yoon was not the person who introduced him to B.

Local council member Lee Gwan-ho, who allegedly facilitated the lawyer referral, also denied any involvement. Lee told Newstapa that he had no knowledge of introducing a lawyer to B.

Yoon's office did not respond to Newstapa's attempts to contact them. Yoon's side has not yet provided any statement regarding the allegations of legal counsel referral and instigation of evidence destruction.
