Virginia Woman Arrested, Charged with Murdering 17-Month-Old Twin Sons

A 21-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with murder and child neglect in Virginia for allegedly drowning her 17-month-old twin sons in a bathtub.

Richmond police responded to a call about injured children at an apartment on the evening of April 17. Upon arrival, officers found the children with injuries consistent with drowning. One of the twins was pronounced dead that night after being transported to a hospital, and the other died several days later.

According to court documents, Amaya Dixon was facing eight separate felony charges at the time of her sons' deaths in neighboring Chesterfield County, including larceny, credit card fraud, possession of stolen goods with intent to sell, and financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
