KOSPI Renews All-Time High, Settles Above 7,900
The KOSPI, South Korea's benchmark stock index, closed at 7,981.41, setting a new all-time record. While the KOSPI attempted to break through the 8,000 mark during trading hours, it ultimately settled in the 7,900 range. This marks a 1.75% increase from the previous day.
The semiconductor sector led the index's rise. Samsung Electronics renewed its all-time high, closing at 296,000 won. SK Hynix finished trading at 1,970,000 won.
Domestic brokerages interpreted the KOSPI's failure to breach 8,000 as a process of digesting existing sell orders. The visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to China had a limited short-term impact on the stock market, provided there were no major disruptions. KB Securities has set a target of 10,500 points for the KOSPI, Hyundai Motor Securities at 12,000 points, and Yuanta Securities at 11,600 points.
