Personal Information Protection Act Amended to Drive AI Innovation

The National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee has passed an amendment to the Personal Information Protection Act aimed at supporting artificial intelligence (AI) technology development.

This amendment focuses on establishing a foundation for the safer and more systematic utilization of data required for AI development.

Lawmaker Kim Nam-geun proposed a unified approach to personal information utilization, avoiding indiscriminate allowances through legal system maintenance, and Personal Information Protection Commission Chairperson Song Kyung-hee pledged safe data utilization for AI innovation.
