Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi will visit Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, on the 19th at the invitation of President Lee Jae-myung to hold a summit meeting. This summit is a return visit by Prime Minister Takaichi following President Lee Jae-myung's visit to Nara, Japan, in January, and marks an occasion to realize reciprocal visits to each other's hometowns by the two leaders.

The two leaders are scheduled to engage in a small-group and expanded summit meeting, a joint press announcement, and a dinner on the 19th, with separate time for informal interaction also planned.

This meeting is expected to cover not only the development of South Korea-Japan relations but also cooperation on livelihood issues such as the economy, society, and citizen protection, as well as regional and global issues like the Middle East situation.

President Lee Jae-myung visited Nara, Japan, in January, and this Andong summit is part of shuttle diplomacy where the leaders of both countries visit each other's hometowns.
