New Government Takes First Step with 'Simply Give' Welfare Initiative

The new government has launched the 'Simply Give' welfare program under the national goal of 'a government that saves the lives of its people,' vowing to build welfare that saves lives more swiftly and meticulously.

Senior Spokesperson Kang conveyed that President Lee Jae-myung stated at a Cabinet meeting on December 12th, "I hope our government is heard as a government that saves the lives of its people," and emphasized at a senior secretaries' meeting on the 14th that protecting the lives and safety of the people is the state's primary duty.

The Blue House explained that these remarks were intended to highlight how policies across all government sectors—including finance, welfare, labor, healthcare, and disaster response—directly impact people's lives and well-being. It was added that this clarifies the Lee Jae-myung administration's governing philosophy, which prioritizes "protecting people's lives as the foremost value in state operations."
