Park Jong-jin Sues Rival for Defamation Over 'Nomination Fund' Allegations

Park Jong-jin, a candidate for the People Power Party, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Jung Seung-yeon of the Reform Party and officials from the Yeonsu-gap Responsible Party Members' Association, who had reported him over alleged 'nomination funds'.

The Yeonsu-gap Responsible Party Members' Association filed a complaint against Park Jong-jin on the 8th, accusing him of violating the Public Official Election Act, the Political Funds Act, and obstruction of business. The group claimed there was evidence Park demanded money using his position as the People Power Party's Incheon City Chapter nomination committee chairman in exchange for nomination.

Park's side stated that he never demanded or received money during the nomination process. The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Investigation Unit summoned the representative of the Yeonsu-gap Responsible Party Members' Association for an investigation as the complainant.
