Defense Ministry Launches Audit into Suspected Irregular Drone Acquisition Process

The Ministry of National Defense has launched an audit into how unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) were incorporated into the military without going through formal procedures.

The scope of this audit includes the acquisition process of a drone that reportedly infiltrated Pyongyang during the Yoon Suk Yeol administration.

Allegations of 'improper acquisition' have been raised because the drone in question was developed through the Agency for Defense Development's own research and development project, bypassing formal procurement procedures by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and requests from each military branch. It was then transferred to the preparatory team for the Drone Operations Command and operationalized.
