Special Prosecutor Books Former Chief Prosecutor Lee Chang-soo on Suspicion of Investigation Obstruction

'The special prosecutor's team investigating the 'Deutsche Motors stock manipulation probe obstruction allegations' has booked former Seoul Central District Prosecutor Lee Chang-soo as a suspect. Lee is accused of abuse of power and forging official documents during the investigation into the 'Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case'.

This case centers on allegations regarding the circumstances under which the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office issued a non-prosecution ruling for First Lady Kim Keon-hee in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case at the time. The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 had issued a finding of 'no charges' for Kim regarding violations of the Capital Markets Act.

The special prosecutor's team has also booked former Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung as a suspect on charges of abuse of power, in addition to former prosecutor Lee, who was in the investigative chain of command. Although Shim did not have investigative authority over the case, the special prosecutor's team reportedly confirmed circumstances indicating his partial involvement in the matter.
