The downing of 24 advanced US attack drones, specifically the MQ-9 Reaper, amidst the conflict with Iran has resulted in the loss of a significant portion of the US military's overall drone capabilities. This situation impacts the economic value of military assets and operational effectiveness. According to a report released by the US Congressional Research Service (CRS) on the 13th, US forces lost or damaged a total of 42 aircraft during military operations in Iran, with the MQ-9 Reaper accounting for 24 of these losses, representing a substantial part of the total damage.

The MQ-9 Reaper, dubbed the 'Assassin of the Skies,' costs $30 million per unit. The 24 drones destroyed this time represent 20% of the US military's entire MQ-9 Reaper fleet. This not only highlights issues with the US military's advanced weapons operation capabilities but also incurs significant financial losses, adding to strategic and financial burdens.

Furthermore, Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have also reportedly shot down over 15 MQ-9 Reaper drones since 2023, indicating an increasingly threatened operational environment for US drones and posing a potential financial risk.
