Mobile IDs to Be Accepted for Early Voting Starting May 29
Early voting for the 9th National Simultaneous Local Elections will be held for two days starting May 29. Early voting will take place from May 29 to 30, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., at 3,541 locations nationwide. Voters can use any nearby early voting center regardless of their residential address, which differs from the requirement to vote only at the designated polling station for one's address on the actual election day.
During voting, in addition to physical resident registration cards, passports, and driver's licenses, voters can also use mobile identification that verifies their photo, name, and date of birth.
Most voters nationwide will receive seven ballots. Voters in areas holding by-elections for the National Assembly will cast a total of eight ballots, with one additional ballot. Voters in Sejong and Jeju will receive four ballots as there are no elections for heads of basic local government or members of basic local councils.
