New York Anti-Israel Protests Spark Fears of Downtown Clashes
On May 28, 2026, anti-Israel demonstrators are set to take to the streets in Manhattan, New York. The protest organizer, Palestine Solidarity Organization (PAL-AWDA), is demanding an end to the occupation of Palestinian land and calling for Palestinian control over the territory from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. The demonstration aims to expose American influence and target attendees of the 'Jerusalem Real Estate Expo' scheduled for tonight.
Earlier, on May 27, Palestinian solidarity protesters outside a synagogue in Brooklyn reportedly used anti-Semitic slurs and clashed with police. Footage showed an anti-Israel demonstrator pushing a Jewish girl and an Israeli flag being set on fire.
Anti-Israel activists have been continuing a pressure campaign against Jewish-related events across New York City. Earlier, Jewish and Muslim leaders led a protest outside the residence of Mayor Eric Adams, who had participated in several anti-Israel demonstrations before running for mayor.
Other groups, including Within Our Lifetime, are participating in the planned protest. These groups coordinate anti-Israel demonstrations and student campus occupations in conjunction with left-wing organizations.
The protest is planned for May 28, 2026, targeting a real estate event at the New York Hilton Midtown scheduled for 6:30 PM local time. The stated goals are to halt the occupation of Palestinian land and expose Zionist control in America. The demonstration is seen as a continuation of the 'Nakba 78' protests, in the same vein as the incidents that occurred in Brooklyn on May 27, 2026.
