Four days before the June 3 local elections, on May 30, 2026, Chung Cheong-rae, leader of the Democratic Party, and Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, held rallies in Wando, Jeonnam, and Chuncheon, Gangwon, respectively, delivering contrasting messages. This day was also the second day of early voting.

In Wando, Jeonnam, Representative Chung campaigned in support of Democratic Party candidates, stating, 'We must empower President Lee Jae-myung.' Representative Jang, campaigning in Chuncheon, Gangwon, for People Power Party candidates, criticized, 'President Lee Jae-myung's violation of election neutrality is a clear ground for impeachment.'

Representative Chung referenced and criticized rallies supporting former presidents Park Geun-hye and Lee Myung-bak. Representative Jang, citing President Lee Jae-myung taking a ballot outside the voting booth during early voting, asked, 'Isn't the president campaigning openly in front of broadcast cameras?' and stated, 'We must stop Lee Jae-myung's dictatorship.'

Both parties are prioritizing campaigning in closely contested districts for the remainder of the election period, coordinating their leadership schedules. The Democratic Party is focusing on competitive mayoral races in the Jeonnam region, while the People Power Party is planning leadership appearances in areas expected to boost voter turnout.
