With three days left until the June 3 by-election for the National Assembly seat in Busan's Buk-gap constituency, the campaign has escalated into negative attacks, with the Democratic Party candidate Ha Jung-woo's camp raising allegations that an individual presumed to be a supporter of independent candidate Han Dong-hoon assaulted a resident. Recent polls show the two candidates locked in a close race within the margin of error.

On May 30, candidate Han Dong-hoon posted a video on his Facebook page titled 'The Difference in Attitude Towards the People.' The video showed Ha Jung-woo responding to a man demanding an explanation about stock disposals by saying, "You need to give me time to explain." Han Dong-hoon criticized this interaction, implying Ha Jung-woo was trying to pick a fight with an ordinary citizen.

In response, Ha Jung-woo's campaign posted a message on May 31 titled 'Buk-gu Resident Assault Incident, Candidate Han Dong-hoon, Please Respond.' They released a video appearing to show a man, believed to be a Han Dong-hoon supporter, pushing another citizen, and retorted, "Thoroughly manage your fan club first."

The negative exchanges between the two candidates, now escalating to allegations of assaulting a local resident, are expected to significantly impact the political landscape of the Buk-gap by-election in Busan as it enters its final stage.
