Hoengseong Mayoral Candidate Takes Legal Action Over False Information

Im Kwang-sik, the People Power Party candidate for Hoengseong County Mayor, has filed a complaint with the police against a local weekly newspaper and independent candidate Kim Myung-gi, accusing them of violating the Public Official Election Act by spreading false information unrelated to him.

Im Kwang-sik's camp claims that the spread of false information ahead of the June 1 local elections is causing confusion in the election.

Im's camp stated that the local weekly distorted the truth based on unconfirmed facts, and Kim Myung-gi's camp used this to send false text messages, making it appear as though he was involved in serious election law violations.
