ROK-US Security Consultative Body Holds Inaugural Meeting
South Korean and U.S. government delegations concluded the first day of the inaugural security consultative body meeting, a follow-up measure to their summit.
The meeting was held on the 2nd at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Seoul, with First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yun-ju and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Allison Hooker attending as lead representatives for each side.
The delegations discussed ways to advance cooperation in security matters outlined in the joint fact sheet agreed upon by the ROK-U.S. leaders last October. This includes South Korea's development of a nuclear-powered submarine and expanding the scope of the nuclear agreement to allow for uranium enrichment and reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel.
