Taekwondo Gym Owner Faces Additional Charges for Sexual Offenses Against Minors, Following Illegal Filming Conviction
A 30-year-old Taekwondo gym owner, who was on trial for illegally installing cameras in the women's changing room and filming, has been additionally handed over to prosecutors on charges of committing sexual offenses against underage students.
Mr. A was indicted in December of last year on charges of installing a miniature camera in the Taekwondo gym's women's changing room from March 2023 to November of last year and illegally filming approximately 6,300 instances of female students and instructors.
Additionally, Mr. A is accused of blindfolding a teenage student, engaging in sexual acts, and filming it. The Gyeonggi Yongin Dongbu Police Station referred Mr. A to the prosecution in January on charges including simulated sexual acts by deception and the creation of sex trafficking materials.
Mr. A received a 7-year prison sentence in the first trial for the previous illegal filming charges, and both the prosecution and the defense have filed appeals.
