North Korea has criticized General Paul LaCamera, Commander of US Forces Korea, for stating that South Korea is a 'dangerous presence from China's perspective,' interpreting the remarks as part of a US strategy to counter China. In response, North Korea has clearly expressed its intention to cooperate with neighboring countries to counter this.

Kim Myong-chol, a North Korea expert, noted General LaCamera's remarks and the subsequent explanations, pointing out that the statement was not merely an individual's impromptu claim. He commented that General LaCamera's remarks reflected the strategic vision of successive US administrations seeking to utilize South Korea as a geopolitical tool in their process of realizing regional strategies aimed at deterring China. The expert argued that after the end of the Cold War, the United States focused on deterring China, elaborating its Asia-Pacific rebalancing strategy and Indo-Pacific strategy, and concentrating on preempting military superiority in the region.

This criticism from North Korea is interpreted as a manifestation of its intention to respond to the deepening strategic confrontation between the US and China amidst regional geopolitical tensions surrounding the Korean Peninsula, by forging solidarity with neighboring countries.
