Jeong Won-oh: 'I Am the 'One Team' with the Lee Jae-myung Administration; Oh Se-hoon Will Face Judicial Judgment'
Seoul mayoral candidate Jeong Won-oh of the Democratic Party of Korea asserted on June 2, the final day of official campaigning for the June 13 local elections, that his opponent, Oh Se-hoon of the People Power Party, would face legal judgment for defamation he raised. Speaking at a press conference at the National Assembly, Jeong stated that the election would be one that 'empowers the Lee Jae-myung administration.'
Jeong refuted Oh Se-hoon's call for his resignation, in which Oh labeled him as 'unqualified,' calling it an 'intention to conclude the election with a negative campaign of slander until the very end.' He further criticized Oh, stating that while Oh proposed policy competition, he also operated a comment operation to 'systematically spread indiscriminate slander.' Jeong added that such actions 'will not escape judicial judgment.'
Regarding the 'five major suspicions' raised by Oh—namely △delay in the completion of the Haengdang 7 District △suspicion of sole-source contracts with high-paying donors △suspicion of a trip to Cancun—Jeong described them as a 'typical negative campaign that rehashes and rehashes matters already answered multiple times to create suspicion upon suspicion.' He argued that citizens would see through this attempt to overturn the election once the tide turned unfavorably.
