Rep. Kang Seon-woo Further Indicted on Donation Splitting Charges

Independent lawmaker Kang Seon-woo and former Seoul City Council member Kim Gyeong have been further referred to prosecutors on charges of illegally donating approximately 130 million won to Rep. Kang by borrowing the names of others to circumvent personal donation limits. According to police investigation, former council member Kim, seeking to bypass donation limits after the 2022 local elections, channeled about 130 million won to Rep. Kang using the names of dozens of individuals.

Police suspect these funds were returned from the 100 million won allegedly received as a nomination fee, only to be re-donated through the 'splitting' method.

Rep. Kang Seon-woo is already under detention and on trial for charges related to the '100 million won nomination fee'. On the 12th, during a bail hearing, Rep. Kang requested bail to reveal the truth and stand trial without detention.
