The government will announce new support measures to alleviate the youth employment crisis.

The job market has recently made it difficult for young people to find employment due to demographic and industrial changes, shifts in hiring practices, and the influence of international affairs. The government announced today (17th) after holding a joint task force meeting involving relevant ministries that it would prepare additional support measures to help recover youth employment. The meeting concluded that young people are struggling in the job market due to a triple whammy: changes in demographic and industrial structures, the spread of rolling hiring for experienced professionals, and the prolonged Middle East conflict.

In addition to existing policies like the K-New Deal Academy and the delinquent tax management team, the government is devising new programs to support youth employment. It will closely analyze trends in key industries with high employment rates such as manufacturing, construction, and agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, whose business conditions are worsening due to the prolonged Middle East conflict. Relevant ministries will mobilize all policy tools to prepare countermeasures. Furthermore, the government plans to support workers needing job transitions in line with changes in labor demand driven by industrial shifts like artificial intelligence (AI) and green transition (GX), and will soon announce a 'Basic Plan for Employment Stability in Industrial Transition.'

The government plans to hold weekly task force meetings for the time being to discuss specific response strategies and will continuously release measures after deliberation at the economic ministers' meeting.
