DP Lawmaker Chung Cheong-rae: '1-Person-1-Vote System Will Dissolve Party Factions'
Chung Cheong-rae, a lawmaker from the Democratic Party of Korea (DP), stated that introducing a '1-person-1-vote system that equalizes the voting value of delegates and registered party members' would naturally cause intra-party factions to disappear. Regarding media movements to categorize DP members into groups like 'pro-Chung faction,' Chung stated, 'If we must categorize, we are the party member faction and the reformist faction.' He added, 'The Democratic Party of Korea members and supporters all hope for President Lee Jae-myung's success, and in that sense, all DP members and supporters are the party member sovereign faction and the reformist faction.'
Lawmakers Chung Cheong-rae and Kim Min-seok are being discussed as potential candidates for the party leader election at the DP convention scheduled for August 17.
Rep. Chung evaluated President Lee Jae-myung's overseas trip as a 'move that showed an indispensable Korea on the world stage.'
