Hansol Technics Acquires Semiconductor Inspection Parts Firm Will Technologies

Semiconductor parts manufacturer Hansol Technics has acquired Will Technologies, a specialist in semiconductor inspection components. This move is part of Hansol Group's strategy to enhance its competitiveness in the semiconductor business, with Hansol Technics taking a majority stake of 83.37% in Will Technologies for 177.2 billion won, making it a subsidiary. Will Technologies designs and manufactures probe cards used in the inspection processes for non-memory system semiconductors.

Leveraging Will Technologies' design and manufacturing capabilities, Hansol Technics will strengthen its expertise in the semiconductor inspection sector. Hansol Group previously acquired Hansol Ionics, which operates in precision processing for semiconductor equipment and materials, in 2022, and SI Materials, which handles semiconductor material regeneration, in September last year. Through these acquisitions, Hansol Technics, alongside Hansol Ionics and SI Materials, has expanded its business scope to include semiconductor equipment, materials, and inspection.

The importance of the semiconductor industry is growing with the recent proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. As supply chain uncertainties increase, securing stable production bases has emerged as a key challenge for domestic companies. Consequently, Korean firms are accelerating proactive investments and business realignments to mitigate supply chain risks and boost competitiveness.
