SK Telecom Denies 'China Link' Amid Mitos AI Model Export Control Controversy

SK Telecom has fully denied allegations of being linked to China in connection with the export controls on the U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) model 'Mitos.' The company officially stated that it is not the telecom provider in question, explaining that it does not use Chinese communication equipment and has no significant ties to China. SK Telecom added that it has not received any notification from the U.S. government or Anthropic regarding this matter.

Previously, The Washington Post reported, citing a White House official, that the Trump administration had identified a South Korean telecom company suspected of having ties to China on a list of early potential users for the AI model.

KT and LG Uplus have stated that they have not received Mitos access rights from Anthropic.
